Besides, as a little child crying my eyes out I went to the beach, by the time I was around 12 I would stay up all night watching TV. I liked being up when it was dark outside, especially in the summer. When I was a young adult in my 20s, I would al…

Another great thing about living in Texas....tornados. 1 Reply

Our weather here is so screwy. It's not unusual to have unseasonably warm temperatures in the middle of winter here. I've had Christmases where it was 75 or higher out. Well, with those warm temps co…

Complaints about winter being depressing... 5 Replies

I know that we've discussed this at length, but I still find it amusing. Just the other day my mother said to me: "I hate winter, it's so depressing. Don't you agree?" Of course, I said "NO" and laun…

Re: I Hate this Place

Computer would not let me post comment, so answering this way. Man, do I know how you feel. I have the misfortune to now live in South Florida and am originally from NY. here Punching people who say don't you just love it? Let me count times. I used to just mutter something and walk away. I now answer them and say no I hate this place. You should see the looks on their faces, but I simply cannot hold back anymore. It's a small comfort, but there is no point in lying.

I, too, get up hours before… Continue

I hate this place..

3am and I intend to stay up as late as possible to escape the bright glaring sun in this desert (insert foul word). Bad enough I have to suffer this in Summer, but now in the dead of winter?? My friends back east are enjoying record amounts of snow and complaining! I am wondering..who came to the conclusion that bright glaring sun, without a cloud in the sky equals "beautiful day"??? God created this earth and weather so why all the complaining about alleged "gloomy gray skies"? I don't get it a… Continue

Groundhog day

Just like in the movie; I wake up and same day; sunny and bright. Really loathing this place now and if I hear one more person say "what a beautiful day" I'm going to whack them up side their head. For the love of Pete, it's still the middle of the winter!!! Ugh...Need to move to Seattle or the UK. Sick and tired of being so depressed I can't even get out of bed:(

I gotta get out of here!!

Another day of bright sunshine an not a cloud in the sky. It was cold but doesn't help much. It's the constant sunlight that hits me the most. Since it's been such an unseasonably cold winter; people are talking about how hot the summer will be. I don't know if I can handle glaring bright sun AND stifling heat. If my disability ever gets approved I am out of this desert h*** as soon as I can. It's like the movie "Groundhog Day". Every day you wake up and with the exception of the temps, same wea… Continue

Oh Happy Joy! (NOT)

I hate these biased weather people. Tomorrow (gag!) another "lovely SUNNY day, with temps going up to 50's soon!!'...I wanted to throw a shoe at the TV. Why do these people just assume that everyone loves bright, glaring sun! After three days of cloudy bliss I'm going to have to be subjected to misery again and it's Winter for the love of Pete!!! Add to that I live in the Southwest at a high altitude so you can literally get a sunburn in the winter. Bad enough I have to live through stifling hea… Continue

The sunshine never goes away here even in dead of winter

After a mere two days of cloudy bliss and even some rain, the usual weather has returned. While it is cold, the sun is bright, glaring, and is beating down on everything like one of those huge maglights the police use.

Just when my depression had lifted, it is back again in full force. I have to get out of the Southwest. I feel like I am in my own personal hell here. While the other 95 percent of the US is being pelted by rain and snow; I can't even get a simple cloud day here. And if I hear on… Continue

Hello from Winterland

I popped into the site today for the first time in ages and see we have new members and still active message boards and blogs. Cool! Welcome to all the new members.

Here in Saskatchewan we are still enjoying (add sarcasm here) winter. Our temperatures are more moderate than they were in December, but our above 0 (C) temeratures have disappeared. I am looking foward to spring...however brief its appearance is *sigh*

Mist, wind, and rain on Tiger Mountain

To ease my pain of living in a perpetual no-winter climate, my brother sent me a video he took at the peak of Tiger Mountain in Issaquah which is 20 minutes east of Seattle. There is something very soothing to me about watching the wind rustle the trees around.
